Goodbye Dark Circles

I suffer from Hyperpigmentation under my eyes.
Hyperpigmentation is caused by an over production of melanin. Melanin is what causes our skin to darken.

I’ve had it my whole life and it’s always pissed me off because I always get comments like “you look tired” and “you look like shit”. Something I don’t like to hear obviously. I’ve heard it about a million times too. Why people have the need to express such things is beyond me but anyway.

Over the years I’ve been to countless naturopaths and doctors, trying to figure out what’s causing it.
I’ve been told many things… Its due to poor diet, my iron deficiency anaemia, chemicals, eating certain foods, not getting enough sleep, alcohol, stress and the list goes on.

I’ve tried a shit load of stuff. Got my iron deficiency anaemia under control (had it as a teenager), I eat healthy and I get enough sleep blah blah. Everything I tired and nothing helped. The amount of times I’ve googled “Dark circles remedy” is crazy. Many home remedies tried but with no results.

I decided to give the local skin clinic another go. It’s the forth time I’d seen them in just a couple years.. Every time I went I was sent away & told I couldn’t be helped. I guess a lot of people would go in experiencing the same issue with dark circles under the eyes so they didn’t give me the time of day to actually look at me properly.

It was different this time around. Finally it was confirmed that I have hyperpigmentation.

Something can be done about it:

1. Stop sun tanning. Something I’d never been told before. And I tanned A LOT! Tanning actually makes it worse.
2. Start a 6 month treatment – That could possibly carry out to be 12 months

My treatment is applying this liquid form lightening treatment under my eyes morning and night every single day. The treatment goes in 1-2 month increments where I change between two different solutions.

I’m four months in and noticing a difference, it’s definitely helped 🙂 I honestly didn’t have much faith but I’m happy it’s lightened.  If you want more info on this just send me an email.

I still have a couple months left and there’s a chance it won’t go away completely but a little change is better than none.

I wear makeup to cover it because I fear the nasty comments. That’s the honest truth. I fear the “you look like shit”, “late night?”, “you look tired” or whatever other stupid comments people want to make. You’d be surprised how many times per day I hear this.

I’m trying to not let the comments get to me and trying to not worry about what others think of my pigmentation. I just have years of shitty comments so it’s not something I’m gonna fix overnight. It gets better every day and I have less people commenting on it which is nice. It makes me feel less insecure.

I’m trying to not wear makeup as much. I use to wear a full face every single day but now I only do it a couple times per week. Full face for me is primer, foundation, concealer and setting spray – that’s it. I’ve never been on a full on makeup person and have always found minimal to be best for me. I don’t wear it every time I go out. I usually just throw on some concealer everyday and I’m good or I try to wear nothing at all. I’d love to get to a stage where I’m comfortable without any of it.

In the mean time.. I found this awesome Dark Circle Corrector by Natio that is brilliant! I just wanted share it with you all because I personally know how hard it is to find a good concealer or corrector!

Dark Circle Corrector by Natio is vegan and not tested on animals.

I’ve had it for two weeks now and I’m loving it. In this two weeks I’ve only put on my full face of makeup twice. Pretty happy about that.

Don’t get me wrong… I love makeup, I enjoy putting it on and I have many makeup channels that I’m subscribed to on YouTube & love to watch. I’d like to wear makeup because I want to wear it not because I feel I “have to” hide behind it.

Since becoming vegan at the end of last year I’ve had to get rid of a lot of the products I had as they weren’t vegan nor cruelty free. Most of Natio’s products are vegan- always double check! I currently have their liquid foundation, primer, nourishing lip balm and now this dark circle corrector. Highly recommend!
